It says what you do, and where
Someone landing on your home page should know within a few seconds what you do, where you do it and how to get in touch. Say it in the words your customers use, not the words on your invoices.
It makes the next step easy
Every page should end somewhere: a phone number that rings when tapped, a quote form, a booking link, a Buy button. Decide what you want a visitor to do and put it where they can see it.
It is right today
Out-of-date opening hours, last year's prices and a menu from two seasons ago cost more trust than having no website at all. The people who know the business should be able to change those things the same day, without asking anyone.
It can be found
Search engines read the title and description of each page, its headings and its words. A page for each service, and for each area you cover, gives them something to match a search to. Keep your Google Business Profile up to date as well, and point it at the right pages.
It works on a phone
Most people will meet your site on a phone, often with one hand and a few spare seconds. Short pages, readable text and buttons big enough to tap matter more than anything that moves.
It is looked after
Hosting, security and updates are not jobs for a business owner. Someone should be looking after them, and you should know who to call.
